3 Minute Read
I wrote this article to share with you three books I have read that have helped me grow in all sorts of ways and have contributed to some of my successes. But, before I share these books with you, I want to share with you why reading is important and why you ought to be doing it every day. (Keep scrolling to see the list of the three books.)
Reading, reading, reading. It's something some people love, and others hate. Regardless, it's something that the most successful people do daily. Examples include Warren Buffett, who reads for five to six hours a day, and Mark Cuban, who reads at least three hours a day. It's so important. It will inform you and put you far ahead of your competitors. You do have to read the right books, though. Reading fantasy books is good and all, but it won't necessarily bring you closer to your dreams and goals. That's why reading books tailored to the industry that you seek to compete in is important.
Reading self-improvement books are also extremely beneficial. You can have all the knowledge you want about your desired industry, but if you are not right within, it's all vain because you won't be able to use it properly. You must work on yourself. Self-improvement is a must for success, which is why I am so adamant about reading self-help books.
Below are three reasons why you should be reading every day if you desire to be successful:
1) Reading is mentally stimulating.
It builds your imagination, and it can give you new ideas. Success starts in the mind. If you don't have a strong mind, your ideas are worthless. You might as well give them away to someone else. Your brain is a muscle that deserves to be exercised every day. Mental stimulation can even slow the progression of diseases like Alzheimers and Dimentia because an active brain doesn't lose power as fast as an idle one.
2) Reading makes you smarter.
Your vocabulary expands the more you read. The more words you know, and the more intelligent you become, the more serious people will take you. The more impressive you will be and you are likely to be much farther ahead of your competitors who may not be reading every day. Plus, people will be more drawn to you socially!
3) Reading improves your focus and concentration.
This is something we could all use more of, especially if you want to be as great as Warren Buffet. I think focus is the single biggest key to success. If you're more focused, you will be more productive, which in turn can yield more results. Focus is crucial. In this digital age, we are way too distracted, which is why I suggest reading a physical book, and not a book from a technological device. There's nothing like a good old fashioned book in your hands!
I also want to suggest below three books that I have read, which I'm sure will be beneficial and mentally stimulating for you:
1) "Pep Talk" by Terri Savelle Foy
You can buy this book here: https://www.terri.com/pep-talk-article/
2) "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki
You can buy this book here: https://www.amazon.com/Rich-Dad-Poor-Teach-Middle-ebook/dp/B0175P82RA
3) "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" by Robert B. Cialdini
You can buy this book here: https://www.amazon.com/Influence-Psychology-Persuasion-Robert-Cialdini/dp/006124189X
And if none of these books interest you, a book that surpasses them all is the Bible! God says in Joshua 1:8 "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." To know your Bible, you have to read it first. If you don't read anything else, you ought to read this book every single day!
